Primary Goals as Board Member:
“I have three specific goals to assist CDA in achieving its mission.
- ) Visibility. The partnership between CDA and the respective municipal governments seems to be weak or non-existent. Many municipal governments have strong ideas about downtown revitalization and rarely include the local downtown groups in their decision-making. On a statewide level, I’d like to see CDA actively support legislation that is good for downtown.
- ) Technical Assistance. I think CDA should act as a repository for technical assistance. I would like to see CDA develop a CDA technical assistance website for members who could access the information. In addition, I’d like to identify a small group of CDA consultants who would be willing to donate services to a “downtown assault team.” This team would make three visits per year to needy downtowns, spending a weekend in the subject area and providing verbal technical assistance in return for travel expenses only.
- ) Increased Membership. I am always surprised by the number of city officials who do not know about CDA. My goal would be to spread the word at other conferences such as League of Cities, American Planning Association, California Redevelopment Association.”
