Job Posting MBA – Executive Director The Midtown Business Association (MBA) is looking for an experienced, passionate and energetic Executive Director (ED) to join our team.

About Us Sacramento’s Midtown is a friendly Central City neighborhood with a unique and successful blend of residential, entertainment, restaurant, retail, office and commercial spaces. As Sacramento grows, the mixed-use model that developed organically in Midtown has become the preeminent example of smartgrowth urban infill in the region. As the area’s leading nonprofit professional advocacy organization, the MBA is at the forefront of this exciting evolution and has been instrumental in putting Midtown on the map as the place to see and be seen.

The Position We are looking for a leader. The successful candidate will know how to make things happen, build strong partnerships and has a proven track record with downtown revitalization projects.

The duties of the Executive Director include: • Develop and implement the programs and services of the MBA in an effort to strengthen and enhance the business environment in Midtown. • Organize, coordinate, manage and administer programs and activities relating to the Propertybased Business Improvement District (PBID) Management Plan adopted by the Board of Directors. This is a start-up PBID, with an annual budget of $575K through 2013. • The four main program areas are: Clean and Safe Programs, Marketing and Advocacy, Parking and Administration. • Assist the Board in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, priorities and policies for the organization. • All management responsibilities including record keeping, budget development, purchasing, bookkeeping, staff management, accounts payable and reporting. • Form and maintain effective relationships with all individuals and organizations directly or indirectly involved in the Midtown business district; build and support the MBA membership base. • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the City and County of Sacramento, the State of California and the Federal Government to support MBA goals; serve as liaison with the Board of Directors, business owners, agency staff, elected bodies and community groups. • Encourage improvements in the Midtown area by developing private and public partnerships to undertake programs to improve the Midtown area; develop new funding sources through grants, contracts, sponsorships, special events and strategic partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications • Bachelors Degree, or equivalent, in Governmental Affairs, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Marketing or other relevant field. • Minimum (5) years experience in an Executive Director or other executive role with a Propertybased Business Improvement District (PBID) or similar public service, community development, or downtown revitalization entity. • Minimum (5) years experience in financial management of an organization. • Minimum (5) years experience in personnel management in a supervisory capacity. • Demonstrated success in program development and implementation, ideally with specific experience in clean and safe programs, marketing/special events/promotions, political advocacy and parking/transportation and infrastructure management and planning. • Proven ability in fund development and creating funding partnerships. • Outstanding communication skills including effective public speaking, media relations and presentation skills, as well as top-notch professional writing abilities. • Superior computer skills, with knowledge of standard Office applications as well as specialized accounting and databasing software such as Quickbooks and Filemaker Pro.
