Action Item - Call Your Legislator Now To Save Redevelopment

Floor sessions for both the Senate and Assembly are happening now. There may be an effort by the leadership to have one or both houses vote on a measure providing for the total elimination of redevelopment agencies by majority vote. It is imperative that your legislators hear from you and other stakeholders ASAP - ask them to vote no to the elimination of redevelopment and support the alternative being offered by CA Redevelopment Association and other supporters of redevelopment.

Over the past week, the alternative to the Governor’s proposal has gained traction. Much progress has been made in convincing state legislators of the problems in a proposal that totally eliminates the state’s mechanism for generating economic growth and jobs and in finding interest in our alternative proposal.

BUT WE NEED YOUR CONTINUED HELP! With the bill still being “in play” that gives more time to advocate the need to reform Redevelopment – not end it. It is essential for supporters to remind state legislators of the value of redevelopment to their constituents and to ask them to support an alternative that would preserve this tool.
